It's just going to be the default SMF 2 theme. You can see a screenshot of that specific theme at https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/images/d/da/Creating_new_theme_new_background.png . If anyone spots an SMF 2 theme they like, send me a link and I can get it setup.

Sounds like you have things well in hand.

Any chance of a preview for the new theme? Like screenshots or some such?

I've got everything ready to go to move the site over to the new server. On Saturday afternoon, around 3pm CST (GMT +5), the forums will be placed in Maintenance Mode. This will be done so that no one makes posts while migrating data to the new server. The site will stay in maintenance mode until 10am CST Monday morning to allow time for DNS changes to propagate. At 10am, the site will be live again. The only difference you guys should see is a new theme, as the one currently being used is not compatible with SMF 2.0.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

There are some good points here. Since I went completely public about BIID I have been invited to join around 20 disability support groups wherein my BIID is known. Also the majority of my Facebook friends are people with disabilities who explicitly sought my friendship on account of my BIID. Thus I can be completely open about BIID on my Facebook page. As stated by capitol, these things are easier than one might imagine.

The majority of my on line emotional energy these days is invested in talking with people with severe disabilities who are having suicidal ideation. This is not a one way street because I find great relief from BIID by immersing myself in the problems of PWDs.

Hello,

As many of us know other websites dealing with BIID have disappeared and others have slowly fallen into disuse and only a handful of members participate.

It is true that many prefer to use Facebook, but nevertheless when I used Facebook I did not find groups or pages that will treat the BIID.

I believe that the reason why people with BIID have stopped participating in websites like this is because they "have left the closet", no longer keep their desire to use a wheelchair. I imagine that many have traveled to another city (even country) to start a new life as paraplegics, or are absent for a time in their city to then appear and say that they have had an accident or excuse themselves from using wheelchairs because of problems in knees or even have reported that they are people with BIID. Therefore they no longer use these websites to tell their feelings, although there are also people who use a wheelchair in public and actively participate in the forum.

I usually use Instagram. This hypothesis I believe from Instagram I have found profiles of people that I am sure are people with BIID and currently use wheelchair in public when until a few years or months ago. Also on Facebook is what happens. However this earlier I am very happy because I know that it is possible to be who you want easier than you imagined.

thanks Ellen.

I enjoy reading the topics of the forum. I do not comment much because I do not have important things to say.

I have a theory that can explain why websites like these have been sadly disappearing.

Yay, I'm so glad this place isn't going to be lost.

I know it's pretty quiet round here but it was so valuable to me when I needed to figure out my feelings and I like knowing it's still here for people who need us in the future.
