Turning Your Chair into a Recliner

By: Michael Humphrey

I originally used this trick to teach myself how to wheelie because if I fell over backward I would land on the couch instead of the tiled floor. Now I use this trick to watch TV without having to transfer to the couch. Simply put some pillows on the couch behind you, so you will not fall so deep into the couch. Line yourself up and wheelie over backward. Set your brakes and enjoy your very own recliner! To get back up, just grab your wheels and yank yourself forward. Make sure that your couch is on a surface that doesn’t slide or that it is up against a wall. Otherwise it may slide backwards when you push yourself up.

About Ahiru

Sophie is transabled. She has been using a wheelchair more and more, and has wheeled "full time" for several months. She is now stuck back at her parents house without a wheelchair and having to suppress her transabledness. She looks forward to the day where she will be a para (Complete T12).
