Andrea’s Experience

Andrea sat humming to herself as she flipped through the phone book looking for a doctor her orthodontist recommended. She hoped Dr. Karns was right in assuming the orthopedic surgeon would see her pro bono. Since she had lost her job and moved across the country and didn’t have any health insurance. She glanced down at the icepack around her injured knee. It didn’t hurt so much now, but having a specialist look at it wouldn’t hurt, or so she assumed.

After she found the number, she picked up the phone and dialed the number for Dr. Joseph, Orthopaedic Specialist. A rather gruff sounding woman answered the phone, and so startled Andrea, she began asking for an appointment without realizing that her orthodontic appliance prevented her from opening her mouth. Quickly she undid the straps around her head and pulled the double facebow out of her mouth. Sensing the receptionist’s frustration, she quickly asked if Dr. Joseph would be able to see her, seeing as how his friend, Dr. Karns suggested she see him. The receptionist’s tone changed slightly and told her that an appointment was available Thursday evening at the close of business. Andrea asked if there were any other times available, as that was the start of the holiday weekend, and she didn’t want to go across town in kind of traffic. Becoming slightly agitated, the receptionist responded that Dr. Joseph only saw pro bono referrals after business hours. Andrea shrugged to herself and agreed to the time, and gave the receptionist her information.

Thursday arrived and Andrea was looking forward to finding out what had been the source of her knee pain. She put on a sundress and birkenstocks and headed out the door. Reaching the car, she remembered that she had forgotten her headgear. Thinking it wouldn’t be a good thing to visit her orthodontist’s friend without wearing her appliance she went back inside to get it. She picked up her device, closed her mouth and pursed her lips back revealing the extensive braces in her mouth to her reflection in the mirror. She held the facebow in both hands and guided it into the slots on her upper and lower teeth, firmly clamping her mouth shut. She then reached for the straps and holding it behind her head, she carefully avoided her ponytail and guided the straps across the top and sides of her head and behind her neck and attached it to the facebow. She was now wearing her appliance, and could barely enunciate words. She reminded herself that she had to keep wearing this so that her projected four years of treatment would be just that and not longer. She paused a moment to look at her reflection in the mirror, and saw the pretty face of a red-haired woman wearing a horse’s bridle. She giggled to herself at the mental image she envisioned and headed out the door.

After a rather slow trip through holiday rush-hour traffic, she arrived at Dr. Joseph’s office. She parked in the space the receptionist directed her to. She got out and headed towards the door, not realizing that her car was not visible to the flow of traffic on the main street. After going inside, she rang the buzzer at the receptionist’s desk and signed the blank sign in sheet on the clipboard. She sat down and waited for her appointment. After ten or fifteen minutes, a voice startled her from the fashion magazine she was reading. She looked up and smiled through her headgear at the handsome gentleman standing before her. He introduced himself as Dr. Joseph, and remarked about Dr. Karn’s complicated apparatus. Andrea replied through her clenched teeth that it would be worth it in the long run. Dr. Joseph smiled pensively and assured her that it would. He asked her to follow him to the exam room where he gave her a paper gown to change into. He told her that he was doing research for an unspecified organization, and that he was able to do rather comprehensive testing and treatment for charity cases. Andrea relaxed a bit when she heard that, she wouldn’t have to pay. She really had lucked out getting an orthodontist and an orthopedic surgeon’s services for free.

After changing into the paper gown, Dr. Joseph told her that the first thing he would do was a series of x-rays of her entire body, and then some additional specific views of her knee. He told her it was part of the baseline study required for his research. Andrea wasn’t a rocket scientist, but she understood that she would probably have additional tests because of her experience at Dr. Karn’s. After completing the x-rays, Dr. Joseph took her into another room and told her the other part of the baseline study was a casting of the patient. He began explaining the scientific basis for this, but Andrea knew what to expect and told him she understood. He gave her a rather satisfied look and told her that his nurse would be in to help prepare her for the mold.

Andrea sat on the cold steel table with the thin paper gown just barely offsetting the chilly feel of the table. The nurse walked in wearing headgear similar to her own. She smiled at the nurse, and grunted “I see we have the same orthodontist.” The nurse smiled back and told her to lay down on her stomach. The nurse deftly grabbed her ankles and spread them to the corners of the table to awaiting stirrups. After strapping her feet in, she told Andrea to raise her hips while she slid a bolster under them. Another wide strap secured her waist to the table. She told Andrea to remove her headgear and hand it to her, she wouldn’t need it on for the remainder of her appointment. Andrea was thankful she had a small bosom, other wise this table would be very uncomfortable. The nurse told her to open her mouth and she inserted a large rubber ball in it and secured it behind her head with another strap. Another bolster was slid under her face and neck and a strap secured it and her head to the table as well. Her arms were placed in similar stirrups as her feet and she was completely immobilized. She felt something slippery being spread between her legs followed by something being inserted in her rectum. She really felt like she had to go to the bathroom, then the feeling subsided and was displaced by the feeling of a ladder being laid on her back. She felt a pin-prick, like a needle, and everything went black.

While Andrea was unconscious, the nurse hurriedly applied the rest of the frame. She was surprised at the ease of assimilating the new patient, after all Dr. Joseph had said she would willingly accept her “treatment.” As she had learned the hard way, Dr. Joseph was always right. After the rear of the frame was attached, the nurse unbuckled the bolsters and Andrea’s feet and hands from the table. She rotated her so that she was face up and laid the front side of the frame in place. She slipped the pelvis traction and cervical traction halters in place and attached them to the cables in the frame. Once that was complete, she lubricated and inserted a catheter into Andrea’s urinary tract. The attached bag began to slowly fill with a pale yellow liquid. After the catheter was inserted, the nurse gave the hand bulb of the catheter several firm pumps so that it was firmly seated in Andrea’s rectum.

The nurse turned her attention to the straps on the frame, and secured the two halves together. After checking all of the connections, she rotated her to the upright position and tripped the flow valve for the enema. Two gallons of soapy, warm water cleaned Andrea out. Taking scissors, she trimmed the paper gown away and summoned the doctor.

Doctor Joseph was pleased to see that his “nurse” had finished so quickly. Andrea’s unconscious body was securely held in the frame. He checked the nurse’s work, and found some of the lubricant from the catheters had soiled the leather straps of the frame. Displeased, he turned and walked over to a closet. Opening it he pulled out a modified CTLSO brace that was made of green fiberglass. He told the nurse to come over and accept her punishment for being careless. He opened the CTLSO, it was hinged on the front, and the nurse inserted her arms into the custom molded openings. She was no stranger to this device, it being the first one Dr. Joseph made for her when she was his patient. He closed the brace and secured the catches on the rear. During the closure of the brace, it rotated the nurse’s arms back and into her sides and clamped rigidly. It was the most severe of punishment. She was held rigidly upright from the knees to chin. From all appearances, it seemed as she had no arms, just a shell which contoured her feminine form. A slight tear welled in her eye, and she realized that it would be weeks of wearing her different orthoses before she would be back in Dr. Joseph’s good graces. He pulled a hood over her head and pulled the drawstring tight around the throat mold of her brace and placed her in the closet. He grabbed a cable from the ceiling and snapped it on the ring designed for it on her neck and pulled the cable taught. He closed the closet door, and turned his attention towards Andrea.

Dr. Joseph gazed admiringly at Andrea’s drugged form immobilized in the traction frame. He took a magic marker from his breast pocket and a measuring tape and began measuring various parts of Andrea’s exposed body. He drew lines and wrote numbers in various places. Looking down at his watch, he realized it had taken him less than one hour to complete this portion of his “study.” All he had left to do was transfer his measurements to the clipboard hanging from the frame. When he finished, he summoned another “nurse” to remove Andrea from the frame and prepare her for the next procedure.

A slender brunette opened the door to the procedure room and shuffled in. She was wearing a white nurses uniform over a Milwaukee brace. What separated this brace from the ones Dr. Joseph made for his paying patients was the seamless welded construction on his “nurse.” She could not possibly hope to remove it (and hadn’t for nearly six months). Her legs were hindered by HKAFO’s connected by a small tether. It took a few moments for her to make it across the room to the doctor and Andrea’s helpless body.

Dr. Joseph instructed her to prepare Andrea for casting, and as a bonus offered to remove the Milwaukee brace if she performed as expected. Emboldened at the prospect of removing the heavy brace (it was made of steel and had weights attached to it), she listened earnestly to Dr. Joseph’s instructions. She was to remove Andrea from the frame, remove the catheters, and prepare her for casting.

The new nurse began her task, and noticed herself becoming aroused as she removed the restrictive frame from Andrea. She remember her own “treatment” and how she longed to complete the casting session, only to miss the sensation of complete immobilization. She envied Andrea, and lovingly stroked her unconscious face before finishing her tasks.

Andrea awoke lying on a different table than the one she remembered previously. She saw a different nurse across the room and tried calling out but her mouth didn’t work. She was obviously wearing her headgear again, and that struck her as odd, because the previous nurse told her she wouldn’t need it. She thought to herself that maybe her appointment was over, but if so, why was she wearing a body stocking? Nurse #2 shuffled over and told her to relax, that the doctor and another assistant would be in soon, and she would begin phase three of her treatment.
